Hi, I'm Mary Lynne

Yes, you read that right. I started my working career on Madison Avenue in NYC, working for the most successful advertising agencies in the world. In my twenties, I led a fun-filled, but very stressful life.

Little sleep, working a ton, and terrible eating habits left me exhausted and unfulfilled. Somehow, I survived - the buzz of caffeine kept me going at all times.

The high-life of the advertising world left me yearning for something more. I felt empty and lost, questioning my purpose in the world. Soon, the high level of stress and lack of personal connection dragged me down; the thought, “something needs to change” began to consume my mind.

Wanting to Make a Difference

I soon found my way to Colorado - nature called my name. Still working for corporate, I had a deep itch to do more with my life. As I turned thirty, I switched careers, got my master's degree in education, and began teaching in the public schools. As I walked down the middle school halls, a whirlwind of emotions and memories from my teen years, long forgotten but deeply rooted in my subconscious, started to come to the surface.

As easy as it is to remember the good times of my middle and high school years, the reality is stress, suicidal thoughts, and self-sabotage seemed to infiltrate my existence during that time of my life - without anyone knowing it. I hid it very well -just as many young people do today.

As a teacher, I watched and listened to the life challenges of my students. It seemed 10x worse today.than when I was young.

I went from stressed-out and speed walking down Madison Avenue
to happy, healthy, and helping young people
recognize their greatness, embrace their True Power,
and love life again.
A Change in Career

Within five short years of teaching middle school, I knew there was something more I needed to do with my life. The young people in front of me grappled with keeping it together. Lack of self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-responsibility seeped through their souls - it didn’t matter their race, color, gender, or economic status.

In 2009, I started Tools 4 Teens Life Coaching, LLC. I soon filled my schedule with one-on-one clients and groups. Helping to take the weight off of parent's shoulders, I supported teenagers in life and school. From friend drama to failing classes, we worked together on any issues that were causing pain in their life. My skills evolved to teach parent classes on connecting and communicating with their kids so they can have less conflict and more fun.

As the years went by, I found myself learning and evolving as much as my clients. Overcoming my fear of speaking, I began to speak at youth and parent conferences. After five years, I transitioned my company to Mary Lynne Fernandez, Intl. LLC and began to speak to larger audiences. In June 2018, I published my first best-selling book, The Warrior Teenager, Let Go of Self-Sabotage & Embrace Your True Power. I also built an online parent program, How to Detoxify Your Relationship with Your Teenager.

In early 2019, I completed my Ph.D. in Holistic Life Counseling; a 3-year study of metaphysical and spiritual practices which opened up a whole new world to me. From overcoming addictive behavior to using specific practices to help calm the nervous system and lessen stress in one's life, I found myself loving my life work even more.

There have been times when life hasn't been easy. I've learned a lot of life lessons. I now see that life is a gift and I have been given a gift, just as you have. I have overcome a lot of personal struggle to be where I am and who I am today. I now can say that I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I Do What I Do

People often ask me why I do what I do. Long story short, it’s because I wish I would have had someone to help guide me along life's ups and downs when I was young. I needed guidance, someone outside of my friends and family, to hold my hand and help me question my thoughts, beliefs, choices, and actions so that I could be the person I was meant to be. Instead, I struggled to try to make it on my own, thinking I was the only one.

You are Not the Only One

What I’ve learned is that I am not the only one and neither are you. Whether you are a parent or a young person, you are not the only one going through a challenging moment. I am here to support you in whatever way that I can. I want you to know that You Matter, Your Life Matters, and The World Needs You Just The Way You Are. We all have greatness within us to share with the world!

My Life Values

Courage, Kindness, and Authenticity.

I approach every client, group, and audience with these values and try my hardest to lead my life by them. It's easy to get caught up in what other people are doing and lose sight of what is important. It is my life goal to stay authentic to myself and treat every person with kindness.

My Life Dreams

To Travel, Inspire, and Have Fun.

It is my dream to travel the world sharing my work with others, connecting with the people around me, and having fun doing it. I have tended to take life too seriously in the past; it is my goal to keep life simple, laugh more, and be silly!

A little bit about me...

I enjoy traveling and spending time by myself. Here I am in Kona, HI doing meditation. I like to do qigong, yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises daily. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and doing Improv. These are the ways I help manage my ups and downs of life.

My husband is my best friend. We enjoy going hiking, skiing, mtn. biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, and traveling together. We especially like to eat yummy food, be silly, and listen to 80's music. This picture is of us hiking in Rocky Mtn. National Park. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

This is Coco, our 12-yr.old Australian Shepherd. He keeps us going. I love taking him for walks and playing soccer with him. His sister (litter-mate) died a couple of years ago. She was the crazy intense one while Coco is the mellow one. We miss her dearly and continue to enjoy every moment we can with Coco.

I love the water, and I love to swim! I grew up swimming then forgot about it for many years. I got back into it by doing triathlons. Now, I swim for fun. During the summers, you can usually find me swimming laps while listening to music on my ipod at the local outdoor pool.
